CHRIST CHAPEL INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES
3515 East Prospect Road, York, Pa.
CHRIST CHAPEL INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES HISTORY
In November 1997 Christ Chapel was formed at 333 Larkin drive Red Lion Pa. The church moved to 35 West Broadway in Red Lion to the rear of the building and shared a room with a Karate shop. Sunday church; and through the week Karate! In January of 1998 the Christ Chapel body moved to the front of the building where they continued holding services 3 times a week until June of 2006.
In the meantime, in October of 1998, Bishop Larkin and wife Nancy traveled to Kenya, East Africa. While in Nakuru, Kenya, with the help of the local people, they planted the first Christ Chapel Mission Church at Kiti. In August of 1999 the Mission of Christ Chapel moved to a higher level as a group from the congregation flew to Kenya and the first mission team from Christ Chapel held their first crusade in the Kiti community center near Nakuru. During the crusade people accepted Jesus; people were healed and at the close of the crusade the team baptized over 100 people one Sunday afternoon. Realizing the need of the people, God gave Christ Chapel the vision and the means to plant four other mission churches; as a result of the new vision, the name Christ Chapel was changed to CHRIST CHAPEL INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES. Christ Chapel Kenyan Missions Chairman Rev. Godfrey Kanoti has referred to Christ Chapel Ministries as an “infectious ministry!”
In March of 2005 the church purchased five acres of land at the edge of Red Lion off of Elm Lane. Subsequently in May of 2006 the church purchased a 12`x65` office trailer, placed it on the property and Christ Chapel moved services out of the storefront at 35 West Broadway to the trailer. It was then that the church body entered into a building project, however, for reasons that have now become clear, there were many set backs. Allowing the Lord to lead Christ Chapel began to realize God had something else in mind. The Lord provided an opportunity to acquire the church building at 3515 East Prospect Road. A congregational meeting was held and after much praying a decision was made to move into the building and rent it for a short period of time. With great trepidation and considerably more prayer, the Church body decided to sell the property in Red Lion and use the money to purchase the property on East Prospect. A real estate settlement was held on April 11th 2007 and a new chapter in Christ Chapel International Ministries began. Proceeds from the subsequent sale of the Elm Lane property provided enough money to pay off the mortgage on the new building by January of 2008. The property sold in what many called a down market which provided even greater evidence that God is not restricted to the “markets” of this world! “WE ARE NOW DEBT FREE!” Praise God, Amen!
Some people look at Christ Chapel and say, “boy that church isn’t doing so good and there is not much growth!” If you look at it through the eyes of man you might agree. Consider Christ Chapel has moved from Family Room to Karate shop, to storefront to trailer to this beautiful building. During its embryonic stages, the ministry was able to purchase property in Africa and plant mission churches and build buildings to worship in, while back in America many main line denominations were closing their doors; Christ Chapel was able the do this remarkable work all the while sacrificing the comforts of their own building to ensure that others halfway around the world could experience God’s love and unending grace.
God has blessed Christ Chapel Ministries because Christ Chapel Ministries has kept the vision and kept moving forward toward Christ’s calling. When you think about Christ Chapel and are praying for us; pray that we keep moving forward!
Matthew 28:19 does not tell us to stay but to “GO!” and “GO” is what Christ Chapel Ministries will do until the Lord calls us home!
To those of you who have supported our ministry through the years with prayer, finances, and sweat, we say a heartfelt “Thank You,” and invite you to continue to:
“GO” with us!
